How to fix an exercise bike with no pedal resistance
The wifes exercise bike suddenly went all free-wheeling and she wasn’t burning calories. It was time to take it apart!
The pedal resistance was zero. Something was seriously wrong. I figured it probably wouldn’t be that complicated to repair so I dived in.
It turns out the rubber belt that connects the pedal wheel to the heavier flywheel had come off. After a bit of tinkering I worked out how to get the rubber belt back on the wheels. Easy peasy.
This machine is just a cheap one we got off Amazon in June 2017 (Model: Olympic 2000 (affiliate link*)). But I expect the concept of a pedal wheel and a flywheel with a rubber band belt is similar for other bikes.
